Big 12 Visit for Deshotel
Whenever Pearland (Tex.) tight end Ryan Deshotel is asked to do something for his team, he gets it done. At 6-foot-4, 240 pounds, he is a great size for the tight end position, which is his primary spot. But this past season when an injury occurred on the team, he filled in where his coaches needed him to. "For the first five games, I played at tight end. Then our left tackle got hurt and I needed to fill in for him," Deshotel said. "I moved back to tight end for the state game." So with that, Deshotel shows than he is more capable of performing the task needed to be a successful tight end/H-back type of prospect. At the moment, he has not pulled in an offer, but he is getting looks that could eventually lead to one. In fact, he is taking his second visit this weekend to a Big 12 program. "I have already visited UTSA, but this weekend I'm going to Kansas State," Deshotel said. He, who finished with eight receptions for 135 yards and a touchdown, is also in communication with Oklahoma, Memphis, Iowa State and Rice. "(College) coaches like the fact that I can play anywhere, I can block as an H-back or on the line," Deshotel said. "For this off season, I want to work on my quickness and getting stronger."
