2017 RB/FS Young Coming Off Big Year

Tallahassee (Fla.) Florida High School class of 2017 running back/free safety Makel Young has already caught the attention of one FBS program. The 5-foot-10 and 185-pound underclassman ran for over 500 yards as a freshman.

Tallahassee (Fla.) Florida High School freshman running back/free safety Makel Young burst onto the high school football scene this past season while rushing for 545 yards. The 5-foot-10 and 185-pound underclassman has already caught the attention of one FBS program. Florida High head football coach Jarrod Hickman thinks that trend is likely to continue this spring and for the next three seasons.

"Makel started for us as a freshman. He is going to be a really, really good player. He is just going to get better. North Carolina is aware of him and has asked about him when they have been in here to see Ronnie (Florida High senior quarterback and North Carolina commit Ronnie Harrison)," said Coach Hickman of Young's potential.

The underclassman also showed versatility while catching seven passes out of the backfield for 134 yards on one touchdown. He also made 15 tackles while seeing time in the secondary at free safety.

"He is going to start picking up interest from people and he will be another guy that stands out this spring. There are a lot of people that have started to take notice. Makel is a very physical runner with great vision, good hands and should be a big-time Division I player when its all said and done," finished Coach Hickman on the talented rising sophomore.
