Riley Garner, a 6-foot-3, 215-pound linebacker from College Station (Texas) A&M Consolidated made his commitment to Texas A&M on Wednesday, just days after adding his offer from the Aggies.
"Committed play football at Texas A&M University," exclaimed an excited Garner on Twitter announcing his commitment! "Gigem!"
It did not take much time for him to get a celebration going, as he got together with friends and family just after making the decision.
After the celebration was over his family released the following statement about his commitment to the Aggies, and it looks as if A&M fans will not have much to worry about in regards to the status of his commitment.
"Riley Garner committed to Texas A&M on May 21, 2014. Riley felt like A&M was the best fit for him.
We believe the word "commit" means something. Riley will no longer have any obligation to return calls, emails or direct messages on twitter from anybody BUT coaches from Texas A&M. Riley understands he will no longer have a need to attend any camps this summer. He understands he will also not take any official visits after his senior year of football. Unless something dramatic or unforeseen happens at Texas A&M, Riley will remain true to his commitment not to Coach Sumlin but to Texas A&M and the Texas A&M football program.
We respect the college football coaches that showed interest in Riley Garner. We have never met a better group of people than the ones we've met these past few months. We know recruiting is grueling and a bit frustrating at times. We respect the time you have dedicated to your recruiting efforts. We know it takes away family time."
As a junior in 2013, Garner racked up 110 tackles, 12 sacks and an interception to earn 14-5A First Team All-District honors.
