Midlands: HOU Notebook – (5/28/14)

J.W. Ketchum

Scout.com has had lots of activity in the Midlands region. Today, we look at a few recruiting notes from the Greater Houston area for the past week.

Air Force Active in the ‘H'
Over the past week, more than a few offers came from the service academy Air Force. From Elkins, wide receiver Darren Woods got his first offer. Staying within the same city, Ridge Point running back Remus Bulmer also landed offer No. 1 from Air Force. Foster offensive lineman Eric David also got good news from the AFA coaching staff.

Clements wide receiver Luke Mayock got his first offer from Air Force, but also landed UNLV the following day. A similar situation occurred with Hightower defensive back Christian Bertrand, who got an Air Force offer in the midst of others, including Rice and Northern Colorado.

First Things First
Some of the players mentioned above got Offer No. 1 from Air Force, but there were a few more first timers from this past week in recruiting. According to a member on the Foster coaching staff, linebacker Eric Ogor got his first from Louisiana Lafayette. From Bush, Utah State was the first for defensive back Shola Ayinde

Ketchum Makes a Move
After a few years as a game changer and playmaker for the Marshall program, four-star athlete J.W. Ketchum has made the move to Lamar High School. At the 7-on-7 tournament, Ketchum was leading the Lamar offense. Adding a player with the ability of Ketchum will only enhance an already strong squad. The dual-threat quarterback/athlete has several offers including Alabama, Texas and Oklahoma

Those Manvel Boys…
It's no secret that the Manvel program has been loaded for a number of years. And this program just simply reloads and lots of its talent is the younger players. Players like safety Deontay Anderson, quarterback Deriq King, and receiver Reggie Hemphill (all 2016), along with defensive back William Lockett have all seen their offer counts increase daily.

All the above mentioned received an offer from Louisville, a program that has been tossing out plenty of offers lately. Anderson has also picked up a recent offer from Baylor while Washington offered Lockett.
