St. Clairsville (Ohio) 2016 outside linebacker Brendan Ferns talks about his latest trip to Michigan…
Spartan Offer for Ferns
The offers have been coming in quickly this spring for rising junior linebacker Brendan Ferns, and he added another one to the list as Michigan State offered during a Wednesday visit to East Lansing. "It was really good," he said of his visit. "First, we got to tour the facility, the indoor, and talk to the coaches. I talked to Coach Tressell, Coach Dantoino and Coach Narduzzi. After that, we toured the whole campus." The Spartans and their dominant defense the last few years has been led by strong linebacker play, and they could see Ferns playing a number of spots for them depending on how his body and game continue to develop. "They said it's hard to tell two years away but they're projecting maybe MIKE backer or the boundary outside linebacker." His body transformation has already begun, and after a successful sophomore season on the varsity, he is looking to take his game to another level after his offseason training. "Last season I played at 190 pounds and right now, I'm working out and picked up 30 pounds so far, this year it will be a little bit different." It will be different without his brother Michael, now a freshman at Michigan, next to him as well. While his newest offer comes from one of his brother's biggest rivals, Brendan is still strongly considering the Spartans. "It's kind of awkward, but I got over it and he told me to pick a school you like no matter where it is." Next up for Ferns is a visit to Oklahoma and then Notre Dame.
