Washington Weighs in on New Offer
Earlier this month, Virginia wide receivers coach Jerome Oliver stopped by Washington (D.C.) to see a workout at St. John's College High, and 2015 wide receiver Scottie Washington happened to catch his eye. "I actually hadn't really heard from UVa, but coach [Jerome] Oliver came up to St. John's about two weeks ago to watch us workout and I guess he liked what he saw," Washington said. "I called him on Thursday night and he told me that I had the offer." The Cadets wide out said he didn't get a chance to discuss specifics with Oliver during their brief conversation on Thursday, but he is excited to learn more about the Cavaliers now that he has the offer. "Coach [Jerome] Oliver said he thought I could fit in to the program and their offense really well," said Washington, who holds offers from Wake Forest, Connecticut, Nebraska, and Toledo among others. "I don't know much about the history, but I know they have a strong team right now and can compete in the ACC." Washington attended a 7v7 at Virginia last summer, and he was impressed with the campus, however, he hopes to return to The Grounds at some point this June to get a closer look at everything the school has to offer. "I really liked the campus it was beautiful," Washington said. "A few of my friends' parents went there and I know it is a great academic school." The junior pass catcher said he plans to visit each school he holds an offer from at some point this summer, which means definite stops at Nebraska, Wake Forest, Virginia, Connecticut, and possibly others. Virginia seems to be in a good position on Washington's list, but he also has a strong relationship with his recruiters at Nebraska, Wake Forest, and Connecticut. "Virginia is up there now that they offered," Washington said. "My leaders are probably Nebraska, Wake Forest, Virginia, and Connecticut." Washington continued: "I have a strong relationship with coach [Anthony] Pointdexter from Connecticut, we have a really good relationship. He is a really cool guy." The St. John's standout said he plans to wrap up all of his college visits in June, and he plans to make his decision in either late June or early July.
