6'4 218 lbs is a good sized quarterback in the NFL, and is just about unheard of amongst freshman in high school, but that is how big Dante Sparaco is. The rising sophomore will be the starting QB at Glenwood Springs HS this year, and has a good chance to put up some prolific numbers during his HS career. Sparaco alredy displays some of the tools necessary to be a big time college prospect.
"We are just starting spring football, and I really can't wait for this year," Sparaco said. "I have been preparing for this for a long time. I have been working on the fundamentals, as well as getting stronger and faster. Hopefully I can get some early offers based on my summer and sophomore season."
"I love Stanford and Notre Dame," Sparaco explained. "Those schools have it all. I love the game of football, but I know it won't last forever, and Stanford and ND can prepare me for life after football. When I think of playing at those schools, it's not only about winning football games, but my life 30 years after. I have a good relationship with Coach Pritchard at Stanford and Coach LaFleur at Notre Dame. I could definitely see myself playing at either school. I will be attending both camps this summer."
"It is so early in the process, so I am very open to every school. Sometimes I think about staying close to home and playing at CSU or Colorado. I went to Colorado's camp the other day and really liked it a lot. The Buffaloes are moving up my list; they have great facilities and a coaching staff that is building a winng program. I also really like Colorado State at this point, I really like Coach McElwain. I will be camping with the Rams as well this summer."
Sparaco is a good athlete, he lettered in three sports as a freshman, track and field, football, and basketball. While he only played a little bit of QB as a freshman, he started outside linebacker all of last year and was a Freshman All-American. Playing varsity hoops, Sparaco averaged four points and eight rebounds per game. He has a good blend of size and athleticism.
"I really try to model my game off of two guys," Sparaco revealed. "I love the power and toughness Tim Tebow played the game with. With my size and strength, I am not afraid to run a defender over. Tebow had great playmaking ability, and that is something I think I do pretty well. And Tom Brady has always been my idol as far as throwing the football. He is so smooth as a passer, and always delivers in the clutch."
While Sparaco has limtied varsity snap at QB, it is clear that he has some of the tools you look for in a big time prospect. Sparaco has a 3.85 GPA and works equally as hard in the classroom as he does on the football field. He is one to keep an eye on these next few years, Dante Sparaco could be one of the best in 2017.
