Scout five-star defensive tackle Daylon Mack of Gladewater provided the biggest non-offer news of the past week.
The 6-foot-1 1/2, 317-pound Mack (pictured above), who has been committed to Texas A&M since October, had it all planned out to visit LSU this past weekend for the Tigers' annual Bayou Picnic recruiting event (Newton 2015 four-star safety Roney Elam, who also has an LSU offer, attended the event). He also had a June 13 trip to Alabama planned, as well as possible trips to Auburn and Ole Miss, he said early in the week.
But then came Wednesday's news further west in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, where Allen 2015 four-star quarterback and Elite 11 qualifier Kyler Murray committed to Texas A&M, a decision long speculated that came to fruition during an afternoon ceremony at his school.
The next day, Mack announced via Twitter at 12:36 p.m. Thursday that he had canceled all of his summer visits, including the trip to LSU. In other words, Mack appears as solid as ever in his commitment to Texas A&M. He and Murray are undoubtedly the centerpieces of what the Aggies hoped would be their 2015 recruiting class.
In other East Texas news, Nacogdoches 2016 four-star safety Brandon Jones had a huge Friday. He claimed three SEC offers from Kentucky, Tennessee, and Alabama, pushing his offer list further into the twenties.
The 6-foot, 190-pound Jones visited Texas A&M on Saturday. The Aggies could be a frontrunner for Jones.
Here's a recap of the other offers around East Texas from the past week:
Nick Cain, 2015 ATH, Tyler John Tyler -- offered Wednesday by Louisiana-Monroe. ULM is Cain's first FBS offer.
Scout.com hit Sunday's ETSN.fm/APEC East Texas Football Recruiting Combine in Tyler. Expect a ton of content from that event, which featured promising prospects such as Thomas and several 2016 players to watch.
