Malik Lovette is torn between two coaches, Equanimeous St. Brown drops by, Scrappy Norman breaks…
Lovette Has Visits In Mind
Redlands (Calif.) East Valley running back Malik Lovette (5-11, 190), has let recruiting take somewhat of a backseat. After doing the NFTC in Los Angeles and some early 7v7s, Lovette has turned all of his attention to his high school team. "I stopped playing 7v7 and just tried to focus on my school and the 7v7 our school was starting," said Lovette. "I'm working on things and hoping to build up my hands, my speed and footwork to lead into the season." Lovette made the choice on his own to focus on his team. "In a way, my coach doesn't mind us being able to do other activities, but just for me, I'd like to focus on my team and season overall," said Lovette. Five schools have been recruiting Lovette the hardest. "For the most part, it's been Notre Dame, Texas A&M, USC, Washington and California," said Lovette. And Lovette has a few schools he wants to take official visits to. "My officials would probably be to Notre Dame, Texas A&M, I probably would say USC and Arizona State," said Lovette. "Those are probably my four main ones." Lovette also said he has no problem leaving the region. "That's been kind of iffy on my leaving, but overall I want to try something new, so I might be leaving California," said Lovette. Lovette is being recruited to play both running back and receiver. "For the most part it's been running back, but a lot of schools are trying to recruit me for both," said Lovette. "I get that question a lot, but I'll play either one. But in the heart, I'd like to play running back." Lovette said he hopes to take a few unofficial visits this summer, but isn't sure if he'll be able to with his schedule. "I'm hoping to visit schools during the summer, but I'm taking summer school because I want to have a laid back senior year, before my choice to commit to the next four years at a university," said Lovette.
