From Monday through Sunday, the DFW Metroplex saw a whopping nine commitments, easily the most in a week since, well, National Signing Day.
Surprise, surprise ... Dallas South Oak Cliff played a huge role in that number. SOC, which has more than a dozen players with at least one FBS offer, started the week with a Boise State commitment from 2015 athlete Ladarryl Blair.
But that was just the beginning for SOC football prospects this past week.
SMU was another big winner in DFW this past week.
Dallas Prime Prep 2015 three-star receiver James Proche (pictured above) made waves Wednesday around 6 p.m. via Twitter when he announced his commitment to the Mustangs. The 6-foot, 180-pound Proche had been heavily recruited and will probably continue to receiver offers. He chose SMU over his other current offers of Arkansas State, Colorado State, Houston, Louisville, Maryland, North Texas, TCU, Tulsa, and Wake Forest.
SMU picked up two more commitments in the region Thursday. Navarro College cornerback Ray Crockett pledged to the Mustangs, while Dallas Lincoln cornerback Cristian Williams joined the Pony Up party that day as well.
DeSoto had two players commit this past week, starting with the Tuesday pledge of 2015 running back Jatory Sparks-Brown to San Diego State. That didn't stop schools from pursuing Sparks-Brown, who picked up a Fresno State offer a few hours later, then got a Minnesota offer Wednesday evening.
The final commitment of the week came Sunday afternoon, when Rowlett 2015 kicker/punter Andrew Galitz tweeted the news of his commitment to Miami, which is the only school to offer him so far. However, Galitz has gotten a lot of attention from big programs closer to home, such as Texas, TCU, LSU, and others.
