LSU offered 2016 CB Andraez Williams, nicknamed "Greedy," and it may not be long until he opts to…
Williams Gets Two SEC Offers
The popularity of Calvary Baptist 2016 cornerback Andraez Williams appears to be rising just as the summer heat is doing the same. Scout.com national analyst Chad Simmons reported Williams' first offer earlier this month from Wake Forest. Now Williams has picked up two more big offers to start the week, both coming from the Southeastern Conference. Williams confirmed the news of the offers via Twitter with his own tweets and plenty of retweets. Monday brought an offer from in-state power LSU and Tuesday delivered an offer from SEC West neighbor Texas A&M. #Geauxtigers proud of myself pic.twitter.com/MJMercf2Xf— andraez williams (@Awill2_success) June 9, 2014 One of Calvary Baptist's assistant coaches tweeted the following Tuesday afternoon: Back to back days with SEC scholarship offers for @Awill2_success. LSU yesterday. Texas A&M today. Congrats to a deserving kid— Ben Palmer (@CoachBenPalmer) June 10, 2014 At 6-foot-2, 167 pounds, Williams has the type of build and frame that has become coveted at the cornerback spot by college football programs. Similarly built players in the 2015 class include Oklahoma commit P.J. Mbanasor, Oklahoma State commit Jaylon Lane, and Newton (Texas) safety Roney Elam, who has also been recruited as a cornerback. Williams, whose nickname is "Greedy," had a breakout sophomore season in 2013, finishing with 65 tackles, two interceptions, and five pass breakups. He also returned one kickoff for a touchdown and is a threat with the ball in his hands, whether in the kicking game or following an INT. Williams' size suggests that he would be comfortable sticking his nose into the scrum in run support and his film reflects that. That frame also suggests that he could get looks at either spot in the secondary. Chad Simmons also reported that Williams has a cousin who is already at LSU: cornerback Tre'Davious White, who played at Green Oaks in Shreveport. Check back with Scout as we follow the progress of this rising 2016 defensive back from the Ark-La-Tex. There's no doubt the rest of the SEC will take notice of the latest offers for Williams.
