I recently Facebook quarterback/wide receiver Ryan Davis, asking him about his summer plans. The St. Petersburg (Fla.) Lakewood standout replied that he would be visiting a handful of schools - Florida, Central Florida, South Florida, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Maryland. All have offered Davis. He did not specify any dates.
Davis, 5-foot-11, 165-pounds, is an electrifying athlete who plays quarterback. He actually possesses a very good arm and in the right schemes could play the position in college. But he's small.
That is why most project him as a slot wide receiver. He plays that position on his 7-on-7 team, Team Tampa and has as well at camps and combines over the last two springs.
This kid has elite quickness and is terrific in space. He has speed and good hands. His older brother, Chris, played at Florida State and was one of the state's top recruits when he came out in the class of 2002.
Davis is a four-star recruit and the nation's No. 37 ranked wide receiver.
