Hinton picks Wake Forest

Kendall Hinton committed to Wake Forest late Thursday afternoon. Following his announcement, the 2015 Southern Durham (N.C.) quarterback spoke with Scout.com.

Kendall Hinton committed to Wake Forest today.

"I just felt right," said the 5-foot-11, 184-pound Hinton. "I feel comfortable there. I didn't know I was going to commit today, but I talked to my family and just felt it was time."

Hinton chose the Demon Deacons for multiple reasons.

"First, I like the academics," he said. "And I really like the new coaching staff. They're great guys and they've proven themselves at past schools. I really like their personalities, too.

"I'd say I probably have the strongest relationship with (offensive coordinator) coach (Warren) Ruggiero. He's been to a lot of different schools and knows what he's talking about."

The Southern Durham star is looking forward to playing for new head coach Dave Clawson.

"Coach Clawson is a great guy," Hinton said. "He's done a great job everywhere he's been and I'm excited about having the opportunity to play for him."

After helping lead his team to state championship last season, Hinton is hoping for more of the same this fall.

"Our main goal is to win another state championship," he said. "We just have to keep working hard."

Last season, Hinton threw for 3,975 yards and 39 touchdowns, while completing 65 percent of his passes, and rushed for 1,185 yards and 14 touchdowns.

He picked Wake Forest over other finalists Duke and NC State.
