Youngquist lands offer No. 1
Bryce Youngquist is an early 2016 Scout 300 selection and currently rated the No. 215 player in the class. At a rock solid 6-2, 210 pounds, Youngquist lit up the NIKE SPARQ Combine back in March clocking a 4.54-40 (electronic), 4.09 shuttle and jumped 38" in the vertical. He attended Fresno State's camp earlier this week and clocked a 4.37-40, drawing a lot of attention from the Bulldog coaches. "I had a good time and they seemed very interested," Youngquist said. "At every station I was at, they had a coach watching me and I saw the coaches talking to each other about me a lot as well so it was a good experience." Youngquist is hearing from a handful of other schools as well and landed his first offer out of the Pac 12 Friday. "I got an offer from Arizona State," Youngquist said. "It's an awesome day and it feels great to have that first offer. Coach Patterson is the coach recruiting me and I like the coaching staff a lot. "I took a visit to ASU this past spring and met all the coaches. They have been watching me and said they liked my film. Maybe they heard about my 40 time but I'm definitely excited right now." In addition to the Sun Devils, Youngquist said he's also hearing from UCLA, Washington, Notre Dame, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Oregon and Utah. "I'm going to camp with UCLA and Washington," Youngquist said. "I might take some other visits in the summer too but not sure where. I'm going to Ohio in July to visit family so I might try and get out there and check out some schools. "Main factors for me in picking a school will be a strong football tradition, the defensive scheme and a quality education. It's early for me so I'm mainly focusing on team goals right now. I want our team to win a league title and get to CIF again. "I'm excited to get going and have a big season. The coaches want to line me up outside and let me use my speed to make plays. I'll be playing the SAM because I can disrupt tight ends on passing routes while still maintaining run integrity. It's a good spot for me and I'll be ready to go."
