Brunswick quarterback Steven Ficyk put himself on the recruiting map recently with a fine showing at the Elite-11 Quarterback Competition in Columbus.
Ficyk, 6-foot-2, 200-pounds, is a player to watch in the 2015 class in Ohio. He has a strong, accurate arm, and gets rid of the ball quickly.
"In our offense, we don't throw a lot, but when we did I was very effective in the passing game," Ficyk stated. "It was great being at Elite-11 and competing against some of the best quarterbacks in the country. I proved to myself that I can play with these guys."
Even though he holds no offers, Ficyk is drawing recruiting attention.
"I'm hearing the same thing from most of the schools, that they want to see me in camp," he explained. "I have visited Michigan State, and I have plans to throw for Bowling Green, Kentucky, Cincinnati, Akron, and a few more."
"I know I need to be seen in person before anyone will offer, and that's fine with me, because I'm very confident in my ability," he added.
As a junior, Ficyk threw for over 1,600 yards, completing nearly 60% of his throws. He threw 14 touchdown passes, with four interceptions.
