Detroit (Mich.) Cass Tech 2017 WR Donovan Peoples-Jones discusses his camp experience, his talks…
Watch Out For This 2017 Athlete
Even though he still has three seasons of high school remaining, Donovan Peoples-Jones (6-foot-2, 175-pounds) has already shown the skills that have him on the college football recruiting radar. Playing for famed Detroit Cass-Tech, Peoples-Jones impressed as a freshman wide receiver last season and continued to do so at the recent Nike Football Training Camp in Columbus. "I played varsity last year as a freshman, but I missed the first eight games with a foot injury," Peoples-Jones stated. "Once I got healthy, they put me in there and I played well. I'm a player that catches the football, and my hands are my strength." "I'm looking to have a big year as a sophomore and the coaches are counting on me," he added. College recruiting is going really well, and Peoples-Jones already holds an offer. "I was offered by Ohio State earlier, and they've been in contact with my coaches," he explained. "Ohio State is in our school all the time, and they told my coach (Thomas Wilcher) they were offering me." "I'm interested in Ohio State, and I'm interested in everyone," he said. "My dad went to Michigan, so it's always been my favorite school growing up. It's so early for me to worry about picking a college, so I'm just trying to get better as a player every day." EVALUATION: After seeing Peoples-Jones in person at Nike, it's easy to see why Coach Wilcher is so high on his young receiver. The size and length sticks out, but this is a player that competed strongly against older players at Nike, and had a lot of success. As he gains experience, Peoples-Jones has a chance to be a very special prospect.
