Toledo (Ohio) Catholic Central inside linebacker talks Spartans, upcoming visits he plans to take…
Green Has A Plan
Life isn't always fair, and although he would never say it that way, Chris Green is learning that adage at an early age. Because of earlier family issues, Green did not start kindergarten until he was six years old. Green, 6-foot, 220-pounds, is a three-star linebacker at Toledo Central Catholic. Because he misses the age cutoff in Ohio by 36 days, Green has been ruled ineligible by the Ohio High School Athletic Association. With double-digit offers, Green will be playing college football in 2015. He will graduate early from Central Catholic, and enroll at his school of choice in January of 2015. "I'm not down or anything, and I know I need to keep a great attitude and keep working," Green stressed. "I'm definitely staying at Toledo Central Catholic. I'm going through workouts and I'm going to be at practice every day with my team." "This is a time for me to show leadership and stay positive, not whine or cry about my situation," he added. "Everything is going to work out fine for me in the long run. I'm graduating in December, and then I will be off to start college in January." Green was at Ohio State recently hoping to earn an offer from the Buckeye coaching staff. "Camp went great and I kind of surprised myself with how well I did," he explained. "I did a lot better than I did last year, in the one-on-one's and in the drills. I know I impressed the Ohio State coaches, especially (linebackers coach) Luke Fickell, but I'm not sure if they will offer." "Coach Fickell remembered me from last year, and he said I was much improved," Green continued. "Ohio State is looking for the same thing every school is looking for. My film shows I'm a great run-stopper, but they never see me playing covering people man-to-man. That's why I keep going to these camps, to show coaches I can do that." "Everyone wants to see if I can cover," he admitted. "I'm pretty much done with camps now, and I'm going to start keying in on the schools that have offered me. I want to get out and see my top schools, and get my decision done so I can enroll next January." Green did list a few schools that have caught his attention at this time. "I would say Illinois, Indiana, Cincinnati, Boston College and Toledo are schools that I want to check out closer," Green stated. "They have all stayed in touch with me since the decision came down that I would not be playing." "I'm going to try to see all the schools in June, and then possibly make my decision by the end of the month," he said.
