Two visits on tap for Francois
Deondre Francois will visit Auburn Tuesday and Ohio State Wednesday. This will be his first time on campus at both schools, so he's really looking forward to it. "I'm pretty excited, two of the schools in my top five right now," he said. Florida State, Oregon, and Notre Dame, round out Francois' top five. The four-star quarterback had a top six that included Tennessee, but he's decided there's no longer much interest there. "I've eliminated Tennessee from my top five right now, so that makes it much easier," he said. "I just didn't feel the same about them as I did before, and they have a quarterback committed." At Auburn, the IMG Academy standout is just hoping to build more familiarity with the program. "(I'm looking forward to) just meeting some of the coaches and getting a feel for the campus," he said. The same goes for Ohio State. "(I'm excited) just to meet the coaches and to throw for (head) coach Urban Meyer, because he hasn't seen me throw yet in person, and just to get a feel for the campus," he said. On all his visits, he'll be keeping in mind a few things as he evaluates the programs. "How the academic program is, the offense that they run and just to get more in-depth in the offense and the depth chart, stuff like that," he said. The offense he'll play in is very important to the 6-foot-2, 185-pound signal-caller. It's been the biggest factor in determining his top schools. "A spread and pro combined, that's what I want to play in. More pro, I don't want to run the ball, like quarterback designed runs, thirty times a game. I'm just looking for an explosive offense and a good quarterback coach, not just a good offense. That's why I like Ohio State and Auburn and other schools like that," he said. Francois isn't sure where he'll visit next, but he plans to see all his top schools before making a decision. He'll also be competing in the Elite 11 in July.
