Jones Talks Commitment
6-foot-4, 250-pound rising senior Dre'Mont Jones decided to take a last-minute visit to Ohio State on Wednesday. While the defensive end was there, he made his commitment officially becoming the Buckeyes' eighth commitment for the Class of 2015. "I was meeting with coach (Larry) Johnson and we were talking about the four year process. After he was done talking, I told him I was ready to commit. This was my third time visiting, so I knew I was ready," said Jones. "I've been thinking about this for a good month. I knew coming in today I was ready to finally say it." Jones says that his relationship with Johnson was one of the biggest factors in his decision. "We have a pretty strong relationship. We talk about a lot in from personal life to football life and academics. We're pretty comfortable. This was my third time visiting. Each time I came I got more and more comfortable being around them and being at the facility. That's what made me commit," he said. With his decision out of the way, Jones has gone from being recruited to recruiting others to come with him. One of his targets is St. Ignatius (Ohio) teammate Liam Eichenberg. "Liam and I are really close, so I'm going to be in his ear a lot about this. I want him to come here just like me," said Jones. "I'm going to go after a few more also, like (Jerome) Baker from Benedictine." The defensive end says he's relieved to have his decision made and have the recruiting process over. "It feels really good to have it over. It was starting to get annoying a little bit. I'm excited to put on the uniform and play. I love the school. This is a childhood dream for me, so me coming here is a big thing," he said. Jones says Notre Dame was his second choice, he has cancelled his visit to South Bend that was scheduled for Friday, and Michigan coming third.
