No Quick Decision for Jefferson
After a few of his friends, like Cedar Hill standouts DaMarkus Lodge and Richard Moore, made their decisions this week, Malik Jefferson is not in a hurry. Matter of fact he made the announcement on Twitter he was not going to rush things. I'm not committing anywhere anytime soon .— Malik Jefferson 4?6? (@Official_MalikJ) June 19, 2014 Jefferson backed up those thoughts though in person as he continues to maintain that official visits to see out of state schools will be important to his decision making process. "It's huge for me," Jefferson stated about the official trips. "It may be the only chance I have to see that school." Jefferson went on to explain that he has three of his official visits already in mind, with dates as well. "Ohio State, UCLA and Stanford," Jefferson answered when asked about his official visit schedule with a smile standing on the 7v7 field. "Ohio State when they play Illinois. UCLA against Stanford. And Stanford against... (Jefferson struggled to recall the opponent and had to leave the sidelines to compete in a game, but later reported that Utah was the opponent for that trip)." Jefferson, who is rated as the No. 1 OLB prospect and a Scout five-star prospect, is also looking at and holds offers from programs such as Texas A&M, Texas, Baylor, Texas Tech, TCU, Oregon and Oklahoma amongst a host of others. He will be participating in The Opening by Nike in Beaverton, Ore., July 7-10. He is one of 24 current Midlands prospects selected to attend. As a junior in 2013, Jefferson racked up 92 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, seven sacks, five forced fumbles and four blocked kicks to earn 10-4A All-District Defensive MVP and Honorable Mention All-State honors. He checks in at 6-foot-3, 220 pounds.
