St. Johns (Mich.) 2017 LB Tanner Motz talks his development, upcoming camp and more…
First Offer For Motz
Scout.com was impressed with 2017 linebacker Tanner Motz after observing him last winter at the Raw Talent Sports Camp and also the Pylon 7on7 in Youngstown. Motz, 6-foot-2, 205-pounds, plays for St. Johns High School in Michigan. He impressed Saturday at the Ohio State camp. The day before he worked out for Toledo, and picked up his first offer. "Getting the offer from Toledo was amazing, and it's exciting to get that first one," Motz stated. "The campus was great and I love the coaches. I did well at their camp, and the coaches pulled me aside and said they were offering." "I was shocked and surprised to receive an offer before my sophomore season," he added. "It was just a great feeling. Toledo is only two hours from my home, which is great. I called my mom right after and she was thrilled." Even though the linebacker position group was stacked at Ohio State's camp, Motz stood out with his size and movement. With three years of high school remaining, he is a 2017 prospect to watch. "I thought I did well here at Ohio State, and Coach (Luke) Fickell picked me out to work with the top guys in the first group," he explained. "I competed as hard as I could, and it was great going up against some players with bigger offers." "I was able to speak with Coach Fickell afterwards, and that was nice," Motz stressed. "The Toledo coaches were here also and I talked to them again also. They saw me before the camp and said they would be watching me closely."
