Upper Midlands Weekly Recruiting Notebook

WR Alex Ofodile

It was a busy week in the state of Kansas on the recruiting trail in the Upper Midlands for the past week. Two commitments took place as well. Dive in for more.

It was a busy week in the state of Kansas. The Jayhawks and Kansas State threw out a handful of in-state offers and one even came away with a commitment.

Olathe (KS) North linebacker Marcel Spears collected offers from Missouri and Kansas in the last week. He also took an unofficial visit to Iowa State. The Cyclones will be in the mix going forward but will receive a battle from the Tigers and Jayhawks.

Derby (KS) safety Darreon Jackson continued on his tear with an offer from Kansas. The Jayhawks are in a good spot but an offer is possible from both Kansas State and Iowa State.

Pittsburg (KS) running back Alex Barnes reeled in an offer from Kansas State as well, giving him offers from both the Wildcats and Jayhawks. It should be a battle between the two in-state programs.

Wichita (KS) Trinity running back Tyler Burns also brought in an offer from Kansas State, as the Wildcats made the move on a few in-state prospects recently after camp performances.

Kansas offered Shawnee (KS) Mill Valley offensive tackle Evan Applegate, but will struggle to add him to the fold with Kansas State being the heavy favorite.

Kansas City (KS) Piper's Colton Beebe collected his first BCS offer of his recruiting process after a camp performance at Minnesota. He was offered as a fullback by the Gophers, who will be tough to beat stemming from his family's relationship with the Minnesota staff.

Wichita (KS) Bishop Carroll athlete Denzel Goolsby ended his recruiting process with a commitment to Kansas State. He had raked in offers from Iowa State and the Wildcats recently, and elected to continue on the family tradition in Manhattan.

Two 2016 prospects in Kansas hauled in their first offers. Olathe (KS) North safety Isaiah Simmons got his courtesy of the Missouri Tigers, while Lawrence (KS) defensive end Amani Bledsoe earned his after camping in Stillwater for the Oklahoma State staff.

The state of Missouri also saw a key commitment take place as Columbia Rock Bridge's Alex Ofodile confirmed to Scout that he committed to Oregon. The Ducks land the nation's ninth best wideout.

An under the radar prospect in Missouri is Kearney tight end Zack Davis. He has three offers, from South Dakota, Air Force, and Holy Cross. He's also receiving heavy interest from Kansas State after camping with them.

Oklahoma-based defensive end Josh Little notched his second Big 12 offer after Kansas State pulled the trigger. The Wildcats join Iowa State in offering Little.
