Fourth of July Decision

Fourth of July Decision

Quentez Johnson was a Miami commitment for a brief time, but the Hurricanes are now out of the race. He will choose from three schools Friday on July 4...

Miami is out. Mississippi State is out. Both were in his top five not too long ago.

That leaves North Carolina State, Oregon, and Tennessee still in the race for big defensive lineman Quentez Johnson.

"I am committing the 4th of July and it is between Oregon, Tennessee, and N.C. State," said Johnson.

The 6-foot-3, 330 pound rising senior out of Ellenwood (Ga.) Cedar Grove has spent time on the N.C. State and Tennessee campus, but he has not traveled to Oregon yet.

He talked a little about each finalist:

Oregon: "The coaches are very cool and I would love to play with Taj Griffin (Scout 100 running back)."

N.C. State: "I have a chance to play early and the players already took me under their wing. Me and the defensive line coach (Ryan Nielsen) have a good relationship."

Tennessee: "The atmosphere is amazing and I already know some of the commitments."

The three-star is still "thinking" about his decision. His mind is not completely made up yet, but it should be by Friday.

Johnson, a former Miami commitment said this commitment is "most likely" his final decision. Recommended Stories
