The Opening: Previewing JaMycal Hasty

Scout.com is profiling each member from the Midlands Region heading to The Opening next week at Nike's headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon, and in this installment we look at Baylor four-star running back back commit JaMycal Hasty.

JaMycal Hasty

7v7 Team: Mach Speed
Position: RB
HT: 5'8 | WT: 185
Longview (Texas)

Recruiting: Hasty has made a verbal commitment to play his college ball at Baylor, an offense that he should fit in with perfect with.

Scouting Report: A slot-back who plays with a slashing style. He runs hard and is constantly shifting and moving, making his legit 4.4 speed look even faster. He is small and hard for defensive linemen to see behind the offensive line and then he is a blur as he runs past them. He is also an excellent receiver, taking underneath passes and turning them in to big gains. He will likely be a versatile offensive weapon in college, used in many ways.

At Stake: Hasty has a great skill set, that should be well served in a 7-on-7 setting. He could be used as weapon in an event that does not usually showcase running back skills prominently. He will also test well in the NFTC portion of the contest.
