Lewis back to LSU

Lewis back to LSU

LSU was the school Xavier Lewis called home at one point, but he backed off. After plenty of thought and visits, the four-star decided to re-commit to Les Miles and the Tigers.

Reserve (La.) East Saint John standout Xavier Lewis has come full circle.

The four-star cornerbadck, who is participating at The Opening in Oregon this week, made his college destination known after being a one-time LSU commitment Tuesday.

With a flash of the gloves on ESPNU, he was again committed to LSU.

"It came down to Texas and LSU," Lewis told Scout. "I made my mind up on the plane and I knew where I was going as soon as I landed. Both recruited me very hard, both have very good defensive back coaches, so it was a very tough decision.

"This is my final decision and I will not take any other official visits besides LSU."

On the broadcast, Lewis said that the long process was all about being sure of the next step.

"I wanted to ensure that it was the right decision because you only get to do this once," he said. "My decision was based on coaches trust. The stadium, the crowd, everything about the university is what I loved."

Lewis checks in as the No. 221 overall prospect in the country on Scout.

National recruiting analyst Chad Simmons contributed to this feature.
