Van Jefferson has had commitment on his mind before. He has been close on more than one occasion and he almost committed to two different schools, but he has held off to make sure of his decision.
His birthday is July 26 and that could be the day he does decide to announce his college choice, but only if he is ready.
It is down to three schools and he is closing in on ending the recruiting process.
"If I am ready to commit on my birthday, then I definitely will," said Jefferson. "If I am not, I will wait a little longer. I see myself committing before the season though for sure."
Jefferson was almost a Buckeye at one time, then even closer to becoming a Volunteer. It is down to those two and one more for the Scout 300 wideout.
"I am going back to Ohio State July 16 and I will be visiting Georgia again that next week.
"I have been to all three schools before and each was pretty impressive. It was Ohio State I almost committed to first, then Tennessee, so I am not far from making a decision."
At the end of the day, the 6-foot-2, 175 pound wideout from Brentwood (Tenn.) Ravenwood just wants to play on Sundays. He is looking for the school that could help him the most with fulfilling that dream.
"Ohio State likes to grind and I have loved them since watching Ted Ginn and Troy Smith play as a kid," said Jefferson. "Tennessee is an in-state school and it is a great environment there. Coach [Butch] Jones treats me like a son already.
"Georgia has a great head coach in Mark Richt and the coaches there are great and down to earth.
"I know it will be a tough decision, but these next couple of visits will be very big for me. I will be ready to commit after that."
Jefferson is the No. 26 wide receiver and No. 204 overall prospect on Scout.
