North Texas' Summer Heats Up

2015 OT Chett Munden recaps the fast pace North Texas has enjoyed on the recruiting trail in recent weeks.

Halfway through June, North Texas had only one commitment for the 2015 class.

Fast forward 6 1/2 weeks. North Texas has reached double digits.

The latest commitment arrived Monday evening, when Marshall (Texas) offensive tackle Chett Munden (pictured above) announced his pledge via Twitter.

Munden is North Texas' seventh commitment in July and the Mean Green's ninth commitment since June 15, when Canton (Texas) defensive end Sam Miller made the call. The Mean Green has 10 total commitments for the 2015 class.

Below is a timeline showing the Mean Green's run of 2015 commitments:

July 28: Chett Munden, OT, Marshall (Texas) -- the 6-foot-6, 303-pounder has a great frame and length. North Texas is his only FBS offer so far, but that should change.

July 25: Abdul Beecham, OG, Converse (Texas) Judson -- like Munden, Beecham's only FBS offer is North Texas, but he told Scout that the UNT staff compared him to all-conference guard Cyril Lemon, so the Mean Green definitely likes him.

July 21: Zavian Bingham, CB, Southwest Mississippi CC -- Bingham, who will have two years of eligibility after this fall, chose the Mean Green over offers from California, Iowa State, Kentucky, Middle Tennessee, Troy, and UAB.

July 21: Taylor Robinson, CB, Keller (Texas) Central -- at 5-foot-11, 175 pounds, Robinson has a good frame to develop into a college corner.

July 19: Cody Wheeler, OG/C, Allen (Texas) -- Wheeler chose the Mean Green over an offer from New Mexico and interest from schools such as UTSA. The 6-foot-3, 272-pounder will play on an elite high school line this fall with 2015 four-star Oklahoma commit Bobby Evans and 2016 five-star Texas A&M commit Greg Little.

July 7: Cade Erwin, S, Flower Mound (Texas) Marcus -- Erwin is a very versatile player for Marcus, which will use him in the secondary and at receiver this fall. He also played running back and quarterback in the past. Erwin chose UNT over offers from Air Force, Eastern Michigan, SMU, and Texas State.

July 2: Ashton Preston, CB, Edmond (Okla.) Santa Fe -- Preston's lone FBS offer is North Texas, but like a couple of others also committed to the Mean Green, that should change. He looked solid at the Texas "Under The Lights" camp July 18 and should continue to receive attention from other programs.

June 16: Nate Brooks, CB, Whitehouse (Texas) -- the first DB prospect in UNT's secondary-heavy 2015 class to commit, Brooks picked the Mean Green in part because one of his cousins, 2014 Carthage (Texas) graduate Terian Goree, signed this past February with North Texas. The tall, long Brooks picked North Texas over an offer from Louisiana Tech.

June 15: Sam Miller, DE, Canton (Texas) -- the 6-foot-3, 220-pound Miller was a good get for North Texas, which got his commitment despite offers from nine other schools: Arkansas State, Houston, Kansas State, Louisiana-Monroe, Memphis, Nevada, Oregon State, Texas State, and UTSA.

May 9: Rodney Bendy, WR, Tyler (Texas) John Tyler -- the 6-foot-4 1/2 Bendy has looked great during the summer 7v7 season. He was the first of North Texas' four East Texas pledges to make his commitment. Since pledging to North Texas, Bendy has added ULM offer. Recommended Stories
