Akamnonu Sets Commitment Date

2015 OT Madison Akamnonu

A four-star offensive tackle from the DFW Metroplex has set his commitment date.

The recruiting race for Madison Akamnonu appears to be nearing its conclusion.

The Arlington (Texas) Bowie 2015 offensive tackle tweeted Tuesday afternoon that he has set his date for a commitment: Aug. 24.

Akamnonu recently named a top three of Missouri, Texas Tech, and Oklahoma, but also noted that he's still considering Texas. Akamnonu has an offer list that includes 20 FBS programs.

Scout rates Akamnonu as a four-star prospect and ranks him as the No. 20 offensive tackle and No. 219 overall recruit nationally in the 2015 class.

Akamnonu measured 6-foot-5, 269 pounds at the Dallas Nike Football Training Camp on April 5, when he ran a 5.20-second 40 and a 4.59 in the pro agility drill. Akamnonu's frame, length, and athleticism make him a great tackle prospect on either side at the next level.

The spring was huge for Akamnonu, who entered March with less than five offers and finished the semester with almost 20. Akamnonu is one of several FBS prospects playing for Arlington Bowie, which boasts a pair of 2015 TCU pledges in safety Niko Small and receiver Tony James. Bowie also has 2015 offensive tackle Clyde McCauley, who has seven offers, as well as a few other FBS prospects in the 2015 and 2016 classes.
