Akile Davis committed Monday to BYU to become the seventh player at the talent-laden DeSoto High School just south of Dallas to commit in the 2015 class.
Here's a look at all seven pledges from DeSoto, which enters the 2014 season after reaching consecutive state semifinals in the state's largest classification:
2015 Commitments from DeSoto (Texas) High School
Akile Davis, WR, 6-1, 185 -- as noted above, Davis committed Aug. 4 to BYU, choosing the Cougars over offers from Bowling Green, Indiana, Maryland, Nevada, North Texas, San Diego State, and Toledo. Davis is a three-star prospect ranked No. 120 among receivers, per Scout.com.
2015 DT Bryce English
Bryce English, DT, 5-11, 315 -- English, who decommitted from Texas during the spring, committed July 21 to UCLA. The three-star prospect is ranked No. 37 among 2015 defensive tackles. English chose UCLA over fellow finalists from Arizona State, Arkansas, and TCU. He also has offers from Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Louisiana Tech, San Diego State, and Wisconsin.
2015 WR Kevin Thomas
Kevin Thomas, WR, 6-1, 175 -- Thomas, rated by Scout as a three-star prospect and the nation's No. 71 receiver, picked Kansas on July 15 during an unofficial visit to Lawrence. Thomas chose the Jayhawks over fellow finalists Clemson and Indiana. He also has offers from Bowling Green, Maryland, Nebraska, San Diego State, SMU, Toledo, Wake Forest, and Wisconsin.
Chris Orr, OLB, 6-0, 190 -- Orr committed June 14 to Wisconsin. He's a three-star prospect ranked No. 99 at his position. Orr chose the Badgers over offers from Nevada and North Texas, which is where one of his older brothers, Zach Orr, graduated this past spring after being an all-conference performer. Zach is now in Baltimore Ravens training camp. Chris has another older brother, Nick Orr, who is a freshman defensive back at TCU.
E.J. Muhammad, S, 5-11, 173 -- Muhammad committed June 13 to Nevada, which is his only FBS offer so far. Muhammad, a two-star prospect, and classmate Damon Weaver are two largely under-the-radar prospects playing in DeSoto's secondary.
Kendall Jennings, OG, 6-0, 280 -- Jennings committed June 6 to Nevada, which is his only FBS offer so far. Jennings, a two-star prospect, has also gotten interest from schools such as North Texas and Missouri.
2015 RB Jatory Sparks-Brown
Jatory Sparks-Brown, RB, 5-10, 220 -- the big-bodied tailback committed June 3 to San Diego State, which he chose over offers from Fresno State, Minnesota, Toledo, and Utah State. Sparks-Brown is a three-star prospect ranked No. 83 among 2015 running backs.
