His most recent visit was NC State.
”(Cornerbacks) coach (George) Barlow wanted me to come to camp there," said the 6-foot-2, 180-pound Quillen. "We went down there for the 7-on-7 camp and I think the coaches liked me. It was a fun camp.
”I also learned a lot, especially from the (quarterbacks) coach (Matt) Canada, on how to get the ball out faster. Coach Barlow was also real supportive of me while I was there. They’re the school who seems to be most interested in me right now.”
What’s next for Quillen?
”This fall, I’ll probably go to games at Virginia Tech, ODU and other schools in my area,” he said.
The Hampton signal-caller is excited about the upcoming season.
”I want to throw for 1,000 yards and run for 1,000 yards,” Quillen said. “But the main goal is helping my team win a state championship. We have to keep working hard as a team and never give up.”
Hampton opens their season at Kellam on Aug. 21.
Last season, Quillen finished with 1,300 yards passing, 946 rushing and 14 total touchdowns.
