Maurice Davison was easily among the best corners we saw this past spring/summer during the 7v7 circuit while playing for B2G's 5 Star squad. He's a tough, physical player with great quickness, has good balls skills and makes up for being 5-foot-9 with a 40" vertical leap and excellent body control in jump ball situations.
On the recruiting front, Davison's recruitment never took off the way we thought it would but he does have offers from Cal Poly, Eastern Washington, Idaho, New Hampshire, Northern Arizona, Sacramento State and Villanova.
"A lot of schools want to see me as a senior against some of the top teams we're playing," Davison said. "We open up against Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman and the coaches said they want to see how I do against Cordell Broadus.
"The schools I'm probably hearing the most from right now are Wyoming, Idaho and San Jose State. Wyoming and SJSU are two of the schools that want to see me early this year and if I do well, they'll go ahead and offer. I'm definitely excited about the season getting here. Our team is looking good and I'll be playing both ways so I'm ready to go."
In addition to Gorman, Servite also has non-league games against a talented La Mirada squad, always tough Huntington Beach (Calif.) Edison and national powerhouse Concord (Calif.) De La Salle. Then Trinity League (arguably toughest league in the country) kicks off so Davison will have plenty of chances to shine on a big stage.
"Right now, I'm going to wait things out, I don't want to make an early commitment," Davison said. "I thought about doing that but I want to take some trips and see what other schools are interested. I haven't set any dates yet but I have an idea what schools I want to check out.
"Of the schools that have offered, I would like to check out Idaho, Eastern Washington and Villanova. Like I said though, I'm open to everyone and just want to play this process out a little and see where things go."
