”The schools that are recruiting me the hardest are Duke, Louisville and James Madison and those are the schools I’m focused on," said Trai Sharp. "They’ve all said they want to see my first couple games. Hopefully, they’ll offer after they see my film."
He gave a quick thought on each.
Duke: “Coach (David) Cutcliffe is a great coach and has a lot of experience. I also like the rest of the coaching staff and it’s close to home,” said the 5-foot-10, 180-pound Sharp.
Louisville: “They came to my school twice last year and I just like their coaching staff. I'm also excited that they’re moving to the ACC this year.”
James Madison: “I like how the coaches run the program. They really communicate well with you and help you grow as a person and player.”
After missing most of last season, Sharp is motivated to have a big senior campaign.
”I definitely have a chip on my shoulder,” he said. “It’s been in the back of my mind since I missed my junior season, but I’ve had a great group of people – my parents, teammates and coaching staff – supporting me. I’m just ready to get back on the field and prove myself.”
What’s next for him?
”I haven’t set any official visits yet, but I definitely want to take visits to all three schools,” Sharp said. “I don’t have a date for my decision because I’m focused on the season. But I’d like to commit during the season or shortly after.”
Carrboro opens their season next Friday at home against Cedar Ridge.
