”Right now, I have offers from ODU and Virginia Tech,” said Jalen Elliot. “NC State, UNC, Duke, Tennessee, West Virginia, Michigan and Michigan State are the other schools recruiting me.”
Virginia Tech was his most recent offer.
”It’s truly an honor to get an offer from them,” said the 6-foot-1, 185-pound Elliot. “It’s unbelievable and just a great feeling.
Of the schools that have not offered, one is pursuing Elliott the hardest.
”I’d probably say Tennessee (is recruiting me the hardest),” he said. “I camped there this summer and coach (Butch) Jones told me I did well and that he liked my athleticism. He also told me he’d love for me to come to campus as much as possible and see some games this fall.”
Along with Tennessee, Elliott camped at Duke, North Carolina, Virginia, Virginia Tech, James Madison and Richmond, with latest being Virginia.
”My favorite part of the camp was the one-on-ones because I play both sides of the ball, so I was able to get reps on offense and defense,” he said.
”I also got to talk to (wide receivers) coach (Marques) Hagans and (cornerbacks) coach (Chip) West. I talked to coach Hagans the most and he told me he liked my athleticism and that I could play either side of the ball. I also go to speak with (senior safety) Anthony Harris, who went to my high school.”
Elliot is looking forward to seeing some games this fall.
”I know I’m going to be at UVa’s opener against UCLA,” he said. “I also want to get to Tennessee, North Carolina, NC State, Clemson and possibly Florida. But I don’t have any dates set yet.”
L.C. Bird opens their season next Wednesday at home against Lee-Davis.
