WR Catches On Quickly

New Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy wide receiver Tavares Chase had a big first game at his new school.

You couldn’t ask for a better opening night for 2016 wide receiver Tavares Chase. This former Plant City (Fla.) star is now at Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy. Last night they opened up their 2014 campaign against a very good Tallahassee Godby team and won 32-13.

Chase had a big game, catching a number of passes and scoring one touchdown.

”Things have been building up nicely, since the start of training camp,” Chase said. “All the wide receivers and quarterbacks worked hard and we stayed after practice. That showed tonight and it was fun to make some plays on the field. It felt real good because we have a lot of talent and the same mindset and goals.”

Many of his teammates are not from the Sunshine State like Chase. Some are from Europe, Canada and from many of the states in this country. Still, it’s tough being away from home, even for Chase.

”Yeah, I miss home,” Chase said. “But the transition has been good. They have treated me very well here. I love it.

Chase, 6-foot-2, 170-pounds, is a four-star recruit and one of the top wide receivers in the next class. He’s already secured offers from teams like Michigan, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Ohio State and many others. He also has one from his dream school – Florida State.

”Honestly, I want to put everything on hold until after the season,” Chase said. “I have a big playbook to learn, an NFL playbook. I have lots of time.

”FSU is still my favorite. I know I will head up to the FSU/Clemson game [in Tallahassee]. That’s all I know right now.

Ironically, IMG’s starting quarterback is Deondre Francois. He’s the state’s top signal caller and he’s committed to the Seminoles. The pair could play pitch and catch for a long time.
