2016 wide receiver Tavares Chase was a standout for Plant City (Fla.). But late this summer he made the move and transferred to Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy.
This past Saturday this four-star talent played his first game with his new team after just a few weeks in the IMG program. He came away with a handful of receptions, including a second half touchdown.
Chase is a strong and physical wide receiver that is 6-foot-2, 170-pounds. He’s not a speed demon but does a nice job of always creating separation out of his breaks to free himself open. Chase provides a big target who can go up or down to catch the football. He’s a natural pass catcher that doesn’t fight it.
At IMG, he will have a chance to really shine in their offense. He won’t have to be a focal point, rather another key cog to the engine that is their offense. They are stacked on the offensive front, have a three-headed monster at running back and the state’s top signal caller running the show in Deondre Francois. As you can see, he will have a chance to put up some nice numbers this season, as he continues to develop as one of the state’s top wide receivers in the 2016 class. Currently, he’s the No. 40 ranked wide receiver in 2016.
Chase currently favors Florida State, his childhood dream school. He also has scholarship offers from teams like Ohio State, Florida, Clemson, Michigan and a bunch of others.
Below are a few highlights of Chase playing against Tallahassee Godby on Saturday.
