”My top five is Georgia Tech, NC State, Duke, Wake Forest and Pittsburgh,” said Elijah Deveaux. “If other schools start recruiting me, I’ll take a visit or go see a game. But those are the five schools I’m focused on right now. Those five are in no particular order.”
He explained what he likes about each one.
Duke: “I like the education at Duke,” said the 6-foot-1, 205-pound Deveaux. “I also really like (running back) coach (Re’quan) Boyette. He’s young, energetic and played at Duke. They’re also a team on the rise, coming off that ACC Coastal Championship.”
Georgia Tech: “I have a lot of family in Atlanta, so that’s appealing. I also like (quarterbacks/B-backs) coach (Bryan) Cook and I like the education that they have to offer.”
NC State: “I like the offense and I like (running backs) coach (Desmond) Kitchings. He’s a laid back coach, but when he needs to get on you, he gets on you. I also like that some of my former high school teammates are there.”
Pittsburgh: “Obviously, my dad played there. So I grew up a Pitt fan and it’s always been a school I’ve thought about going to since I was a little kid. I also like that they share the facilities with the Steelers, so you get to be around them a lot.”
Wake Forest: “They also offer a great education. It’s also a smaller school, which I like. I also like their coaching staff. I know they’re new, but they’ve won championships at all their previous schools."
Next, Deveaux plans to check out games at all five schools this fall.
What will he do after the those trips?
”I might give it a little time to see if any other schools jump on board,” Deveaux said. “If they do, I’ll take things a little slower. But as of right now, my decision would come next. I’d like to make it sometime this fall.”
