Leota picks up ACC offer

Pete Leota had been flying under the recruiting radar. However, last week the 2016 Asheville (N.C.) offensive guard was offered by Boston College.

Boston College became the first school offer Pete Leota last week.

”I actually called their coaches last week after my game and that’s when they offered,” said the 6-foot-4 ½, 282-pound Leota. “I was really excited. They’re recruiting me the hardest.”

Along with the Eagles, Leota is attracting interest from Clemson, Duke, Florida State, Georgia Tech and NC State.

Leota stayed busy this summer by attending camps at Georgia Tech, Clemson, NC State, Duke and most recently Tennessee.

”I loved the camp at Tennessee,” he said. “My favorite parts were seeing the stadium and the one-on-one drills with the defensive linemen. I felt like I performed pretty well.

”I had a chance to talk to (offense line) coach (Don) Mahoney. He said I was on his recruiting board and that he wanted me to come back for the game.”

He is looking forward to seeing taking some trips this fall.

”I think I’m going to visit Boston College and NC State,” Leota said. “I’m not sure which other schools I’m going to visit yet.”

Asheville has the week off before traveling to Asheville Saints on Sept. 5.
