Starting at corner as a sophomore on a big stage is not an easy task and Oak Park tried to test Donovan Johnson, but the Cass Tech youngster proved to be up to the task, breaking up several passe that went his way.
"I had to hold my own, I'm a 10th grader out there, and they were counting on me."
The Knights had a 6-foot-2 receiver matched up with Johnson (5'9) but he won a number of those jump balls.
"I had to fight and knock the ball down when it was in the air," he explained. "It gives me a lot of confidence going against a good team like this and I thought it was great and I did well."
After a good summer camp circuit and a big first game, Johnson is validating the Cass Tech staff's claims that he is their next big time corner prospect.
As of now though, he says he is not hearing from any schools...yet.
