Seven on VA LB’s list

Still awaiting his first offer, Salem (VA) linebacker Austin Casey says he has plenty of patience, and says it could be up to a solid year before he ends up earning an offer.
“I do not have any offers yet, just all the coaches are saying they would like to see me there for a visit,” says the 6-foot, 210 pounder. “I am not sure when I will visit, but I will probably visit a lot of my favorites.
“Right now, I am looking at Marshall, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Wake Forest, North Carolina, and Maryland. Virginia Tech is still my dream school, but I am open to any school that offers.”
If the colleges base their decision on senior year film, Casey likes his chances based on what he has seen of his teammates thus far.
“We are doing well, and we will be really good. We had our first scrimmage, and I did pretty well already, so things are looking up.”
Casey says that his bench is around 320 pounds, but that low number surprises people.
“Most people see my chest and say ‘you must be benching over 400 pounds’, but what they don’t realize is how long my arms are. It is always harder for me to bench a whole lot since they are so long. I just have to make up for it by hitting them hard.”
