Hartford, Wisconsin quarterback Brian Brunner says he won't wait for the Big Ten schools to come around with an offer and he's decided to give his verbal commitment to a school in the MAC Conference.

Brian Brunner, a 6-foot-2, 185-pound quarterback from Hartford, Wisconsin was one of the top quarterback prospects that attended the (Ann Arbor) Nike Camp this past April.

Brunner showed a very strong arm and he was very accurate on his throws as well. Brian held his own against the likes of Brian Hoyer, Chase Patton and Anthony Turner.

In my mind, there was no doubt that Brian Brunner had the ability to play quarterback at the Big Ten level if he was patient and had a big 2003 season.

Brunner on the other hand had different thoughts and he gave Central Michigan University his verbal commitment.

“My commitment is solid,” said Brunner. “The only way I’d look at another school is if Michigan called me and offered me a scholarship.

“Michigan just got a verbal from Chad Henne so I don’t think that’s going to happen for me.

“I visited Central Michigan and they told me I was their #1 recruit and I’d have the chance to start for three years if I played there.

“I also developed a strong relationship with (Coach) Butch Jones. Plus (Head Coach) Mike DeBord coached at Michigan for a long time and he coached some pretty impressive quarterbacks in his career.”

This isn’t a good get for the Chips this is a steal. Brian Brunner has thrown for over 4,000 yards and 50 touchdowns in his career at Hartford and he’ll add to those impressive numbers in 2003.
