New interest for NC QB

Patrick Pinkney

A new team is coming on for Pine Forest (NC) quarterback Patrick Pinkney, and he is listening to them, but his current focus is still on the high school level.

"I am getting letters every day, but Vanderbilt called my coach the other day and said they just heard about me and are going to recruit me hard," says the 6-foot-1, 182 pounder. "The teams that are recruiting me right now are North Carolina, East Carolina, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, Clemson, Army, and Virginia, too. North Carolina, East Carolina, Virginia, Vanderbilt, and Clemson are my top-five schools."

Pinkney, who wants to be recruited as a quarterback at the next level, has enough athletic ability to play any of five positions. However, he is sticking at just the quarterback position in high school and his team will rely heavily on him for this season.

"We have a lot of first-year kids at the skill positions. We are just in the non-conference schedule now, but once we get to the conference part we will get better. I think that when we get our first win, it will turn everything around."

Last season, Pinkney amassed 1600 yards of total offense and 17 touchdowns as a Junior.
