For some time, Osbourn Park (VA) offensive lineman Zak Stair wanted to commit in September at the earliest. That time has come and Stair decided that Virginia was the place for him.

"I committed to Virginia yesterday," says the 6-foot-6, 280 pounder. "I just wanted to put the whole recruiting process behind me so that I can focus on the season."

Stair admits that he is excited about the prospects of his future team and that he is very solid in his commitment to the Cavaliers.

"I doubt that I would visit any other school this year unless a teammate of mine wanted me to visit somewhere with him. Even then it would be just for him and not for me."

Several schools were interested in Stair, but he felt that the Virginia offer was the best.

"I am going to play offensive tackle when I get there, and I think it is a great opportunity. Other teams interested mostly were Virginia Tech and Maryland, and Maryland offered. Syracuse also had offered, but I was not really looking at them."

Stair becomes the sixth commitment in the class of 2004 for Virginia.
