It didn't take Locke (Calif.) athlete Richard Marshall long to make an impact this season. Marshall, 5-11, 170 pounds blocked three field goals in Locke's first game this season showing why he's considered one of the state's best athletes.

Marshall has excellent speed but is more quick than fast and has a great burst on the field. He has excellent cover skills and would also be a fine wide receiver at the next level.

Calls have come in from Wisconsin, Arizona, USC, Arizona State, San Jose State and Nebraska.

“USC is my top school right now,” Marshall said. “I like that they're close to home and I've been to their games already this year and feel comfortable there.”

As a junior, Marshall had 1,375 all-purpose yards and nine touchdowns while recording 64 tackles with three interceptions and 17 pass breakups on defense. Academically, he's carrying a 3.3 GPA and will be taking the SAT later in the year.
