Rogers has first official visit set

Monroe (NC) offensive lineman Bryan Rogers did a great job with one of the top defensive tackles in the nation on Friday night, and teams are will take a longer look at him after they watch film of the game. Rogers has already set up on official visit.

“I am going down to Clemson on Saturday for an official visit,” says the 6-foot-7, 310 pounder. “They were surprised from my performance shutting down the number two defensive tackle (Marque Hall) in the state.”

Last season, Rogers was playing offensive tackle with his large frame, but with the emergence of several younger talents and Rogers’ footwork improving, the Monroe staff moved him inside.

“The coaches moved me to guard and I progressed at guard, so they said they would try me at center. Ever since they tried me there, they kept me calling the plays.”

Rogers continued to not only call the line audibles, but also helped his offensive coordinator with play calling.

“At halftime, I told my offensive coordinator that when Marque moved to a 5 technique, we should run a zero-trap so that he won’t even be close to a tackle. If they saw that I was handling MArque by myself, we ran inside. We ran inside even if he was getting there, because I knew I could.”

Rogers knew what he was talking about, and the Redhawks ended up with a victory over Forest Hills 26-3.

Currently, several schools are still recruiting Rogers.

“North Carolina is heavy on me and South Carolina is heavy on me. Charleston Southern offered me last Saturday.

“I went to Chapel Hill on Saturday, and that was a good trip. If they’d have won the game, it would have been awesome, but they are a young team.”
