Chicago (Prosser) wide receiver Fabian Martin says he's narrowed his choices down to two schools. He does have a leader. Take a look.

“It’s down to Illinois and Purdue right now,” said wide receiver Fabian Martin.

“I’m going to Illinois probably the first or second week in January for my official visit. I’ve already been to Purdue (11-7) and I had a great time.

“Purdue is out in front right now. Illinois is trying to get the program on track, Purdue is already there.

“Coach Tiller told me they have a lot of receivers but they don’t have the home run hitter that they need at wide receiver. I feel I can be that guy.

“I’m going to visit Illinois, sit down and make a decision. I’m going to follow my heart.”

Martin, a 5-foot-11, 175-pounder from Chicago (Prosser) was one of the top prospects in the Midwest in the pre-season but things didn’t work out the way he would have liked them to in 2003.

“I had a real disappointing season.” Martin said. “I didn’t have a quarterback who could get me the ball, it was real frustrating. I didn’t make all-area, all-state or anything this year.”

Martin did have a solid junior season with over 1,000 all-purpose yards and he does possess the home run speed (4.33) that the college recruiters are looking for.
