Pennsylvania's Andre Sloan El talks about his Minnesota verbal commitment. With Sloan and Ohio's David Wess now in the boat, that makes five quarterback commitments for the Gophers.

“My commitment to Minnesota is solid,” said quarterback Andre Sloan El.

“Man, I just loved my visit up there. Everyone seems real close, like one big family. I knew Minnesota was the place that I wanted to spend my next four or five years.

“I had scholarship offers Iowa, Kent State, Indiana, Kentucky and few others. I’m done. I’m not going on any other visits.”

Sloan El, a 6-foot-3, 190-pounder (4.5) from Philadelphia (Pa.) Roman Catholic is a three-year varsity starter that was named all-state in 2003.

He passed for 1,500 yards and 26 touchdowns as a senior and also had 376 yards rushing and six scores.

Andre Sloan El finished 2003 as the leading passer in school history.

The only thing that needs to be determined now is who will sign more quarterbacks this year. Oregon State or Minnesota? Both schools have 5 quarterbacks verbally committed.
