OL Dan Doering (6-6, 290, 5.0) doesn't need anymore exposure. He's already received offers coast-to-coast.

"I don't feel I need to get my name out anymore," said Doering. "Most colleges know who I am and how I play."

One minute worth of Doering's highlight tape is all you need to see to verify that the mammoth youngster knows exactly what he is talking about.

OL Dan Doering (6-6, 290, 5.0) of Barrington (IL) has been flooded with scholarship offers. When you see him on film, it's easy to see why he already has twelve offers and will end up with many more options.

"I read on-line somewhere that I'll have over 30 offers by the end of May," said Doering. Try the end of April.

Dan has offers spanning the entire country with West Coast schools like UCLA, USC and Arizona already in the fold, as well as East Coast schools such as Boston College also having offered. Rounding out his offer list is Nebraska, Wisconsin, Iowa, Northwestern (1st offer the summer before his JR year), Illinois, Notre Dame, Boston College, Tennessee, Michigan and Michigan State. And with all those choices it's no wonder Dan can't make up his mind and denies having a leader.

"I hope to have a list of 10 schools during the summer and narrow it down from there. Right now I like Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, USC, UCLA and Nebraska."

Dan has already unofficially visited Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Northwestern, Illinois, Wisconsin and Iowa and will be spending his spring break in California, where he'll visit USC and UCLA. Dan also plans to visit Nebraska sometime in the spring or summer

"I'm leaving for Palm Springs on Sat (Mar 20) and I'll visit USC and UCLA when I'm out there. Me, my dad, my mom and my brother are going out there on vacation. It's not like I have family there or anything. I just wanted to visit them and use my vacation for recruiting."

Dan says he won't attend any camps this year and plans to use that time to visit schools unofficially instead. "I don't feel I need to get my name out more. Most colleges know who I am and how I play. I'll just visit schools unofficially."

Dan comes from the same high school as current Irish lineman Dan Stevenson and he says that he has gotten some good advice from the elder Dan. "He told me that the most important thing in picking a school is to get along with the OL coach and the weight coach because those are the two guys you'll be around the most.

"Academics are number one. I want a good degree. Second is the football program and the number of linemen they have. I'll really look into the weight program and make sure I like the weight coach and the OL coach, like Dan Stevenson said."

Doering is also being recruited for track and throws the shot put (52'). "If the opportunity presents itself for track, I'll take it, but right now it's mainly DII and DIII schools.

"I have good footwork and explosiveness. I get downfield well and I finish my blocks well. I just play until the whistle blows. I still want to improve my overall intensity. I want to get my hand coordination better as well as my pass blocking."
