Despite an offers sheet that is closing in very quickly on twenty entries, Charlotte Independence wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi isn’t concentrating on his recruitment. His focus involves helping his Patriots win a remarkable fifth straight North Carolina State Championship in the largest classification the Tar Heel State has to offer. However, this year Massaquoi and his teammates must win it all without Duke bound Tom Knotts calling the shots.
“We should win another one,” stated Massaquoi. “[New Head Coach Bill Geiler] has been in the system for twenty years so he knows what he is doing, plus all our other coaches are coming back, so it will be the same thing pretty much.”
Massaquoi has, however, made a few unofficial trips to Clemson, Duke, Georgia, North Carolina, N.C. State, South Carolina and Tennessee. The 6-foot-2, 180-pounder’s upcoming schedule, including summer slate, is completely open and somewhat up in the air.
“I’ll be at the Nike Combine this weekend (at Georgia Tech),” remarked Massaquoi. “But, after that I don’t know.”
The two-time All-State Selection claims no leaders, but plans to narrow things down at the conclusion of his senior year. With offers from Clemson, Duke, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Michigan, Nebraska, North Carolina, N.C. State, South Carolina, Stanford, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Virginia, and Wake Forest, Massaquoi has a variety to choose from.
