"Brinda (Derrick Williams' mother) grew up an Oklahoma fan," said Dwight, Derrick's father. "She is from Oklahoma City, about 30 miles from Norman. I played football in Oklahoma at Langston, where I was the LB next to Hollywood Henderson, who played DE. My wife had gone to high school with Hollywood at Douglas in Oklahoma City. About three to four years ago, Hollywood won the Texas Lottery and 25 million dollars."

Dwight Williams, the father of amazing Greenbelt Roosevelt (Md) ATH Derrick Williams (6-1, 193, 4.4), said his son has many scholarship offers at QB, DB and WR--but that most are for receiver. Dwight said, "Derrick wants to play early and be an impact player, and that is more important than what position he plays.

"Derrick's mom (Brinda) works at Maryland in personnel, and I used to work at the university as an administrator," said Dwight. "But that will have absolutely nothing to do with Derrick's decision. We just want what is athletically and academically best for Derrick."

"But if I had to pick six schools that I think Derrick will think about strongly, they would be Oklahoma ('tradition'), Penn State ('The Grandfather'), Florida State ('fast'), Tennessee ('Fulmer'), Texas ('Mack Brown') and USC ('Heisman Trophies'). This is not close to a final list, though.

"Derrick's brother, Dominque, played at North Carolina when Mack Brown coached them. So we are familiar with coach Brown and he comes to mind when we think of Texas. I've also been impressed with coach (Phillip) Fulmer at Tennessee and coach (Pete) Carroll at USC.

"I played my high school football for Dunbar High in Wash, DC. I played with Cornelius Green before he went on to star at Ohio St with Archie Griffin."
