Bobby Rome returned from a camp at Penn State with more than glowing remarks about the Nittany Lions. The Norfolk (Va.) Granby quarterback returned with a new offer and renewed confidence in his recruitment.
Bobby Rome Profile
“They said they really want me to play for them,” says the 6-foot-1, 205 pounder. “They signed a quarterback last year named (Anthony) Morrelli. They want me to still play quarterback, but in the

type of player, returning punts, kicks, everything. I still want to play quarterback, and I’ll get my shot at the position.”
Rome says his improved times in the 40, running a 4.49, and the pro shuttle, with a 4.21, helped him tremendously after gaining muscle mass. He weighed in at 225, and believed the Nittany Lion coaches see his potential.
“Coach said I’m a guy they don’t want to pass up.”
While Rome is glowing about Penn State, he says they have not taken over as a leader just yet.
“No, not right now. My eyes are wide open right now. I am ready to go up to Virginia Tech and prove something to them. I am really confident at this point, and I plan on putting up big numbers. I have been boxing, and I think working in the boxing ring and jumping rope have really helped my footwork.”
Rome also believes other quarterbacks are helping by looking at other schools.
“Coaches think that Sexton kid is leaning somewhere else, and my coach is getting new letters from places like Clemson and North Carolina. UNC is sending me hand-written letters, and I am going down there July 17th. They want me to play quarterback and say the quarterback they have now is like my size, just a little shorter. Every time they have a meeting, my name is one of the first ones they talk about.”
Rome is a names more and more schools are talking about, and schools could soon follow the lead of Kent State and Penn State by offering.
